Inspired by Dia De Los Muertos, this trinket box will hold all your precious jewels!
Found dead center on the top of the box is a calavera surround with papers that have colorful flowers. The same paper with the colorful flower design can be found on the exterior of the bottom tray. On the outside of the top tray, there are different colored and sized dots. Found on the inside of the box, you will be greeted by an image of Iluminación as well as two 3D paper flowers, one of them being a marigold. Additionally, this box features a removable tray. Handmade and leaving nothing to waste, the tray spotlights the scapes of paper from making the top inner portion. Tying it all together, a red gem was added to the tray. The insides of this item is block-colored with the colors of pink, yellow, and orange as well as you will find the classic red felt jewelry box bottom.
A little bit about Dia De Los Muertos
The calavera, Iluminación (candle ceremony), and magrigolds hold a special significance for this Mexican holiday. Closely associated with All Saint's Day, Día de Muertos takes two full days to honor, celebrate, and lament loved ones and religious figures, and famous figures who have passed on. Uniting the living with those who have passed away, Día de Muertos has many traditions.
Every year, families decorate special altars with a variety of offerings (called ofrendas) to welcome those who have died. The holiday starts at midnight on Nov. 1 to honor children, and lasts for two days, honoring adults the following midnight, and everyone on the last day.
